Learning from your kids

Yesterday I went to my first MOPS meeting. It was so great. I got a chance to meet so many wonderful moms! It is amazing how adult conversation in the middle of the day can make you feel:) One of the many questions we talked about was "What has your child taught you?"
One of the things that we said was joy in the little things...so true. Caden taught me another one yesterday. I picked him up from the nursery and he was not feeling well at all. He was crying and I could tell that he did not feel good. We got home and I laid him down for a nap. As I was laying with him, he would look at me through droopy eyes and smile for a second and sigh. He repeated this several times before he finally drifted off to sleep. What I am learning from this aside from the fact that it was so sweet, is that even when things are bad just smile, and breathe, and know there is someone way bigger than you taking care of you! Thank you Caden I needed to be reminded of that today.

MOMMA!!

Okay so for those of you who don't know I have been waiting since caden was 9 months old for him to say momma again. He went through a phase where he said it and then just stopped. He has said dadda for ever and a bunch of other things for a while now. Truth be told I was starting to get my feelings a little hurt. Well I have been doing everything I can to work with him on it. I made up songs, said it in funny voices, said it about 100 times a day. Well Sat.(9/12/09) I went to dance class and when I got home Caden runs up to me and says momma, momma!! :) Now he is saying it more and more all the time. Everyone kept telling me to just wait that when he finally does say it, he will wear it out and you will be tired of it. Well so far I love it more and more every time I hear it, and I couldn't imagine to many other feelings that are better than hearing the child you put all your time and energy into 24/7 say your name with a smile:)

New Place

Hello everyone. I know it has been a while things have been really busy around here. The month of July seemed to fly by. We got to go on a nice little vacation with some friends of ours from Nashville (tear...miss everyone). We also moved into our own place!!! It has been great! We are so grateful that we had a family that helped us through this transition period in our life, and now we are loving being our little family again. Caden also turned 2 on July 20. He is defiantly 2 alright. He gives us so much joy, with the occasional feeling of what in the world have we gotten ourselves into. He is crawling on me this very moment singing and laughing. i can barley type:)
Chris is working , doing what he loves right now. We are thankful that the Lord is blessing him with enough work each month. He is a wonderful dad and Caden absolutely adores him, and the most patient man I have ever met, and I absolutely adore him:)
I am enjoying being a mom, and I have a few things in the works as well as far as other activities go.
ok Well I guess that is a whirl wind catch up, and I promise It will not be another month before I write.

Communication Error

Caden and I went to Barnes and Nobles the other day to look at books. I think we both could look at children's book all day! Anyway I let him pick out a book because you can never have too many. :) We go up to pay for it and he takes a turn into the Starbucks next door. He runs to the counter and starts saying "chi chis". I try to guess what he is saying. I ask him several things and still nothing is right. Well we pay for the book and leave. He is still saying "chi chis" as we walk out the door. We are both getting frustrated because i don't know what he is saying. I ask him if he is saying cookie and he says yea. okay so he wants a cookie. It is getting close to lunch time so I drive by McDonald's on the way home to rent a movie, and I get him a cookie and some juice while we are there. He does not want the cookie after all that. He runs back to the counter and starts saying "chi chis" again. So I order a small fri. Once we get them I show him and he runs to the table and sits there and eats them all. He was talking about French fries that whole time. I guess he thought you could run up to any food counter and order French Fries. :) Well at least now I know what that word means. I have a feeling this has only just begun!

Date night

Chris was working, so Caden and I decided to go on a date. I decided to let Caden have the McDonald's experience. So we go in and I get him a happy meal. We had a great time just eating, talking and playing. (He LOVES french fries by the way) After He ate we went up to get an ice cream cone. He loved it! It was his first one. When he got close to the cone I taught him that he could eat it. He thought that was so cool and did his classic WOW! Then all he wanted to do was eat the cone:) He is so cute! I love that we can do more things together now.

Ice Cream For breakfast...Just this once:)

Okay so this morning I am unloading the dishwasher. Pretty soon here comes Caden to help. Of course he starts unloading it instead. I finally get everything back in except the ice cream scooper. He will not put it back, okay fine he might use it to bang on some pans. Well about a min. later he comes and hands it to me. I think he is done so I put it on the counter. He starts fussing. so I pick it up again. I ask him what he wants(I am thinking surly he does not know what this is). He takes my hand and pulls me to the freezer. I open it up and sure enough he picks up the ice cream tub and gives me a smile. How could I resist... I gave him a little scoop and then through a smile I explained that this was not going to be the new morning routine. I guess I really underestimated him on that one.

Sarah and Robin

This last Week Caden had his cousin Sarah to visit. She is 2 and a half. It was fun to see them play together and develop a bond. They kind of had a love/not so loving relationship. They were happy to see each other and 30 sec later they were at it. It was a crazy week. Let's just say we went to the park a lot so they could get their energy out. Then his newest cousin Robin came to stay with us. He loves to hug her but his is too strong for his own good.
It is great to be so close to family and that Caden can know who his cousins are.

She is Cadens cousin who is two and a 1/2. She is staying with us this week. It has sure been interesting. I will have some pictues soon.

It is nice having my sister close again. It almost feels like I am back in Nashville...almost!

Sunday!

We finally got to go to church with Chris Sunday Morning and night! Then we got to see our awesome friend Amber and watch the rockets stink it up. boo! That night we went to church. It went really well. I love having a place to worship where I know I will get feed everytime. Then Chris,Caden and I had a bite to eat with the Roger. Caden loves his uncle Roger:) We had a good day, and I hope you did too!

Is this normal?

Caden some how got his lotion out and I found him squirting it out on his hands and then eating it and saying MMMmmm.  Lets just hope it stops there and does not lead to glue later on down the line. I told him no and explained and then took it away, but not before I got a picture.

Game 3 Cont...

Okay so we went to Game #3 as you know and as you also know they lost, but the sure did redeem themselves today!!!!! Go Rockets
We still had a blast though. There is nothing like being there at playoff time!! Here are a few pics.

I love it that my child makes me laugh

Caden and I went to the community pool on Sat. for the first time this summer. He loved it! 1) Because there are kids there, and him being the social butterfly that he is, got to know all of them. 2) Because there was water involved. I think he is part fish. He had a blast learning how to kick his legs. and 3) because he got to wear his goggles:) He loves them and once I put them on he did not want to take them off! It is so funny! See for your self
I mean that has got to make your day better!

New Chapter New Blog

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I have started this new family blog so that you can keep up with the Chris Cullins Family. We are not sure what God has for us just yet, but we know we he is in control.
Today we went house shopping. Hopefully that will be happening soon. Caden stayed with granny and pappo. They had a blast playing in puddles and making bubbles. Oh and playing ball ball (basketball for all you non caden speakers:)) Well please pray that the Lord will give us guidence on the road ahead.
